Hesse family in Serbia receives dual citizenship

Mr. Igor Quarmina Hesse and Dr. Alexander Kwaku Hesse received their Dual Citizenship Certificates and Identity Cards at a brief ceremony at the Ghana Embassy in Belgrade on Tuesday, 15 August, 2006. They are sons of Dr. Herman Christian Ofosu Hesse who has been resident in Serbia since the early 1960s. They, also, signed for and received on behalf of their father, his Certificate and Identity Card, all of which were presented by His Excellency, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe.

In his brief remarks prior to the presentation of the Certificates and Identity Cards to them, His Excellency expressed satisfaction that he had been able to fulfil his pledge made to the Hesse family on 1st May, 2006, when he assured them of pursuing their Dual Citizenship applications which were first forwarded by the Mission to Accra in May, 2003. He congratulated the Hesse family in Serbia for the bold efforts aimed at re-uniting with their roots which could be traced to the larger Hesse family of Osu, in Accra. His Excellency nursed the hope that Dr. Alexander Kwaku Hesse, and his brother, Igor, who will soon complete his medical studies as well, will, in the near future, visit Ghana and have the opportunity of practising the medical profession in Ghana. His Excellency wished the family well.

For their part, Dr. Alexander K. Hesse and Mr. Igor Q. Hesse expressed their delight at having finally received their Certificates and Identity Cards and that of their father, Dr. Herman C. Ofosu Hesse. They thanked His Excellency for his efforts and dedication to their cause.

It may interest you to know that the Grandfather of the two young men, the late Dr. Neils Quarmina Hesse, was a renowned Medical Practitioner and one of the pioneers in medical practice in the then Gold Coast and the early part of our history as a young nation – Ghana.

On behalf of the Hesse family, they conveyed their sincerest gratitude to His Excellency for the hard work which ensured the speedy processing of the Dual Citizenship Applications.
