Meeting with executives of Serbia Football Association on Friday, 11 January, 2008
As part of his efforts to further strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation between Ghana and Serbia, particularly in the field of football, His Excellency Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe paid a working visit to the offices of the Serbia Football Association on Friday, 11th January, 2008.
The meeting was to afford His Excellency the opportunity to personally inform the leadership of the Association about the 26th Edition of Africa Cup of Nations Tournament and to address certain concerns regarding Ghana Football. His Excellency was received by the General-Secretary of the Football Association in the absence of the President.
His Excellency expressed gratitude and satisfaction with respect to the impact the former Serbian coach for Ghana, Mr. Dujkovic, had on Ghana football, qualifying the Black Stars for the 2006 World Cup Tournament. It would be recalled that Mr. Dujkovic was appointed during His Excellency’s stewardship as President of Ghana Football Association.
He then briefed the meeting on the Africa Cup of Nations and requested that the Serbia Football Association bring it to the attention of the various football authorities for the information of football fans. He concluded by expressing the desire for levels of cooperation between Ghana and Serbia Football Associations.
The Ambassador further explored possibilities of collaboration and assistance in areas of Serbia competence in football management particularly with regard to:
- Establishment of football nurseries in Ghana
- Training facilities
- Training of coaches and referees
- Exchange programmes involving coaches and referees
- Exchange programmes of teams to play friendly matches and
- Interactive cooperation at the highest levels of the respective football Associations
The General-Secretary expressed appreciation for the visit and assured His Excellency that information on the Tournament would be brought to the attention of the public. He indicated that the Serbia Football Association was receptive to the idea of cooperation in the areas outlined by His Excellency. While the Association would be willing to oblige Ghana Football Association with expertise and technical assistance, the General-Secretary agreed that Ghana Football Association formally make the request and specifically state the level of assistance required.
